kausframe

The framing tools for visual production.

01 · About

A workspace for the visual production discipline.

Visual production runs on a sequence of deliberate decisions — about brief, casting, locations, crew, frames, schedule, cut, delivery.

Most tools split them across separate files. Kausframe keeps them connected: the brief that triggered the casting, the frame that drove the cut, the schedule that wrote the call sheet.

02 · Name

Kaus, and frame.

Kaus — the bow of Sagittarius. Three stars in a curve. Tension. Aim. Release.

Kaus Borealis · tension — the brief, the constraints
Kaus Media · aim — the considered frame
Kaus Australis · release — the finished thing arrives

Frame — what brings a subject into focus and holds it in context. Briefs. Shots. Decisions. Schedules. Each captured. Each in its place. Nothing drifts.

03 · Inside

Five movements, one workspace.

  • Author
AI woven through brief, treatment, and script breakdown — and image generation across characters, locations, props, wardrobe, and shots.
  • Make
Storyboards, animatics with sound and motion, and cuts in every delivery format. Frame to film, with the decisions in between held in place.
  • Run
Schedule, stripboard, call sheets, a project diary, multi-layer set designs and floor plans — with locations, crew, equipment, props, and wardrobe each carrying state, holds, and bookings.
  • Review
Versioning and budgeting woven through the project, with attributed review rounds on a branded surface for stakeholders.
  • Reach
A directory of people and organisations across the industry, and a browser plugin for gathering inspiration from the web straight into a project moodboard.
  • Soon
Live shot-material preview during post review.
04 · For

Studios, and the people inside them.

Studios

Production companies
For the operational spine of the production — schedule, stripboard, locations, crew, bookings, call sheets, budget. The director's workspace sits inside yours.
Agencies
For client review with state, attribution, and a branded surface. Stakeholder access by invitation; controlled disclosure of what's ready and what isn't.
Post houses
For cuts in every delivery format, versions across review rounds, attributed comments and approvals. Issued packages stay immutable; the working schedule keeps moving.
Brand studios
For the in-house creative teams shipping campaigns end-to-end. Brief, image generation, storyboards, schedule, deliverables — on the brand's own surface.

Artists, Creatives & Crew

Working freelance or staff, in their own workspace or yours.

Directors & Photographers
For whom the frame is the work. Brief, references, AI-generated variants, storyboards, animatics, cuts in every delivery format — every decision held in one place and attributed.
Producers
For the operational spine. Schedule, stripboard, hybrid day breakdown, call sheets, bookings, budget, and a diary that holds the whole arc together.
Writers
For the script as the source of every working surface. AI breakdown turns prose into scenes, beats, locations, props, talent, and wardrobe — each one a place where the production happens.
Cinematographers
For the shot list, the coverage plan, lens and lighting choices, references and movement notes — captured against the frame they apply to.
Production designers
For moodboards, multi-layer set designs and floor plans, props and wardrobe coordination, and the looks that hold across every department.
Stylists
For moodboards gathered from across the web — captured directly via a browser plugin — and resolved into looks, wardrobe sheets, location holds, props, and on-set continuity.
Costume, hair, makeup
For wardrobe boards, look continuity, hair and makeup notes — by shot, by day, by person.
Editors & Colourists
For cuts in every delivery format, versions across review rounds, attributed comments and approvals from a stakeholder review surface. Soon: live shot-material preview during post.
Casting and locations
For shortlists with state — candidate, hold, confirmed, dropped — drawn from a global directory of people and places.
